Tygerberg Hospital Orthopaedic Outpatient referrals

Select the clinic you want to refer your patient to and fill in the form. This portal is to refer your patient to a government hospital. Only registered medical practitioners may refer patients. All bona fide requests will be answered within 3 days.

Do not refer emergencies by this method. All emergency referrals must be made by phoning the Orthopaedic registrar on call.

Your request may be rejected for the following reasons:

• Inappropriate referrals i.e. Condition belongs to another speciality or sub speciality.
• You are not a registered medical practitioner.
• Incomplete information

If your request is rejected you will be given the reason/s or, time and date of the appointment will be communicated to you in the return e-mail. You must supply a valid contact number for the patient.

If we can successfully contact the patient with this number, we will inform you and your patient of the date of the appointment. If contact with the patient proves not possible, we will inform you of this, and the onus rests on you to contact the patient with the appointment details. You remain responsible for the management of the patient until the appointment.
