Profile

Luke has been based at the Sustainability Institute in Stellenbosch since 2009 where he was the head of the Food Systems team from 2014 until 2016. Currently, he is a research fellow with the Food Systems Centre. He is a researcher at the CST, an Extraordinary Lecturer on Stellenbosch University’s MPhil in Sustainable Development and founder of SI Explorers which runs immersive learning journeys for post-graduate students in South Africa, India and Nepal.

Luke’s research focus lies at the intersect between youth unemployment, skills development and food system reform. Past research clients include Ernst & Young, WWF, GIZ, DIFID.

He holds a BA in Applied Design, an MPhil in Sustainable Development and is currently enrolled for a PhD at Stellenbosch University.
