Goals galore for Steinhoff Maties Hockey

Ikeys-1516

In just three games the first teams of Steinhoff Maties Hockey scored a massive 21 goals this past weekend in the Western Province Grand Challenge.

The Maties Women scored a 4-0 victory over Ikeys on Friday evening. Quanita Bobbs, Bronwyn Kretzman, Tarryn Glasby and Jenead Brodell scored the goals. Monday’s match against Central was conceded and Maties will get full points from this match.

The Maties Men followed suit on Saturday when they demolished the Ikeys men with nine goals. Seven were scored in the second half. Striker Shannon Boucher scored a hat-trick. Daniel Bell, Dave Agar, Keenan Horne, Pierre de Voux, Jordan Turnbull and Bili Ntuli all joined him on the scoreboard. Goalkeeper Jacques le Roux once again conceded no goals.

There was no letting up in Monday’s match against Langa. Once again Boucher hit the back on the goal box three times. Fellow strikers De Voux, Horne, Turnbull and Ntuli kept the scoreboard ticking and Charlie Bowren scored his first goal for Maties Men.

With these victories both Maties’ teams have maintained their top of the log positions. Maties Women are in a tight battle with Somerset West for league glory, while WPCC would like to bring an end to Maties Men’s winning streak.
