BCom (Financial Accounting)

Admission requirements

This programme is aimed at students who wish to attain the chartered accountancy (CA) qualification but who have not studied BAcc. On the successful completion of this programme, students may do a bridging year, after which they may apply for admission to the BAccHons programme.

Students also have another option. Directly after graduating with a BCom (Financial Accounting) degree, they may enrol for BComHons (Management Accounting). This programme focuses on preparing students for attaining the qualification of chartered management accountant (CIMA). For further information about the training of chartered accountants and chartered management accountants, see BAcc and BCom (Management Accounting), respectively.

   The training of chartered certified accountants

After completing the BCom (Financial Accounting) programme, students may also register for an internationally recognised accounting qualification with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Students with this degree currently receive exemption from nine of the 14 subjects required by ACCA. More information about ACCA is available at www.accaglobal.com.
