BAccLLB

Admission requirements

The BAccLLB offers students the opportunity to complete the curriculums of the LLB and the BAcc programmes in an integrated fashion. Students taking these programmes concurrently are taught both the essentials of jurisprudence and the foundations of financial accounting, management accounting, taxation and auditing. Through further career-oriented training, these students may qualify as chartered accountants and/or as legal practitioners.

To practice as a chartered accountant, see "The training of chartered accountants" under BAcc for further career-oriented training. The curriculum of the LLB equips you with the necessary knowledge and insight required by the law sciences with a view to a possible legal career. Before you will formally be admitted to the profession of legal practitioner, however, you must also undergo the prescribed vocational education and pass the entrance examination set by the profession.

An advantage of concurrent registration for these programmes is that the BAcc and LLB qualifications may be obtained in five years without lowering standards – this is at least one year shorter than similar programmes. See our Calendar page 77 under BAccLLB.
