The Centenary Gala Dinner was hosted on 23 March 2018. The selection of Paul Roos Gymnasium as the venue for this event was a nod to the link between Paul Roos and Stellenbosch University (SU), which dates back 152 years. Guests included Western Cape premier, Ms Helen Zille, Stellenbosch mayor, councillor Gesie van Deventer, rectors of international universities, recipients of honorary doctorates, selected members of the community and other stakeholders.
All keynote speakers reflected on this milestone in SU’s existence and expressed gratitude for how far the institution has come. An animation provided a broad overview of the past century, and the musical group Heavenly Quartez from Khayelitsha entertained the audience.
