Opportunities for Conservation, Climate, and Community

Director's Report: The Wildlife Economy as a Transformative Complex System

The African Wildlife Economy Institute (AWEI), in partnership with Oppenheimer Generations Research and Conservation (OppGenRC), is hosting this event on Wednesday afternoon, the 24th of November.

We are excited to be hosting a live, in-person event for the first time in many months! Virtual participation, unfortunately, will not be possible.

This dialogue aims to stimulate a conversation on how Africa’s wildlife economy can contribute to restoring and transforming landscapes and deliver:

  • Biodiversity conservation;

  • Strengthened climate resilience;

  • Inclusive economic activities; and

  • Flourishing communities.

AWEI is working towards identifying and addressing knowledge gaps, engaging with stakeholders, and building knowledge networks to effect enabling policy change and develop communities of practice for sustainable development.

Our dialogue thus seeks to surface and explore questions which need to be addressed to foster values and principles, develop enabling policies, and promote effective operations of the African wildlife economy.
