In many instances biodiversity conservation is defined as successful when it is in the purist context. We long ago moved from preservation to conservation and perhaps it is time to adapt the terminology. Displacement of human livelihoods is no longer favourable or feasible. Instead, biodiversity conservation and farming have reached a point where collaboration and not agnostic behaviour will allow both to thrive. Grassland management differs from typical savanna environments and consequently needs a different approach to conservation and the management thereof.
Through impactful research, stakeholder engagement, and professional development, AWEI is supporting the wildlife economy across Africa. Please subscribe for occasional updates on our work and forthcoming events.
