Resumed session of the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity
Following the suspension of the sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity... Colombia, the President of the Conference of the Parties, in agreement with the COP Bureau and with the support of the Secretariat, have put in place the following arrangements to complete the work and close the Meetings:
- The integrated budget of the Convention and its Protocols will be put forward for adoption by silence procedure from 3 to 6 December 2024 on the basis of the draft decisions contained in the L documents.
- All other pending decisions will be considered for adoption during the in-person resumed sessions of the Meetings, to be held in Rome, Italy from 25 to 27 February 2025.

Proposed indicators for Targets 5 & 9
- Target 5 on ensuring sustainable, safe, and legal harvesting and trade of wild species
- 5.1 Proportion of fish stocks within biologically sustainable levels (Sustainable Development Goal indicator 14.4.1)
- 5.b Number of countries with legal instruments or other policy frameworks to regulate trade in wild species
- Target 9 on managing and using wild species sustainably to benefit people
- 9.1 Benefits from the sustainable use of wild species
- 9.2 Percentage of the population in traditional occupations
- 9.b Number or countries with policies to manage the use of wild species sustainably, providing social, economic and environmental benefits for people, and to protect and encourage customary sustainable use by indigenous peoples and local communities
Reporting on Targets 5 & 9
- A target-by-target assessment of progress towards the 23 targets, the 2030 mission and other elements of the Framework
- Report on progress in the implementation of a country’s national targets and revised or updated national biodiversity strategy and action plan in alignment with the Framework
Resource mobilisation for Targets 5 & 9
- Improving market access for sustainable biodiversity-based activities, products and services that enhance the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity
- Scaling up positive incentive measures for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity,
- Significantly increasing the use of nature-based solutions and/or ecosystem-based approaches at the national and subnational levels
