Research Fellow
Dr Biandri Joubert has a joint PhD from North-West University, South Africa, and the University of Oslo, Norway. Her thesis was titled “Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures as Barriers to trade: a South African Perspective”. Her research relates to SPS measures and their role as non-tariff barriers to trade with a specific focus on the South African legislative framework and the South African red-meat industry.
Dr Biandri holds a Masters degree in Import and Export Law and an LLB. She has also spent time as a research fellow at the United Nations African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) in Dakar, Senegal. She is currently also a Centennial Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the School of Law at the University of Witwatersrand.
For AWEI, Biandri is working on an analysis of the wild meat value chain and related challenges and opportunities, such as industry standards and non-tariff barriers, for the intra-African trade.
