Filbert Minja is a conservationist and emerging documentary filmmaker, currently in his final year studying entrepreneurial leadership at the African Leadership University. As an alumnus of the African School of Storytelling (AFRISOS) and advocate for grassroots empowerment, Filbert utilizes storytelling to shed light on underrepresented communities and their stories. His commitment to conservation underscores his efforts to preserve the environment and Africa’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
Currently, Filbert serves as AfriFOODLink Youth Ambassador for the city of Arusha, an EU-funded project coordinated by ICLEI Africa that aims at improving food security and urban sustainability in 65+ cities in Africa and Europe. As a food system game-changer, Filbert acts as the voice of those often excluded in the food system and revives the interest in food in Arusha city. He has been recognized as a Top 30 Under 30 Finalist for the OD Impact Challenge 2023, a Top Finalist for the WIPO Youth Video Competition, the Winner of the FailUp Africa Challenge 2022, Circular economy Champion 2023-ALU and he was part of the winning team for the WildPitch 2024 by Wildscreen Festival where he served as Assistant Producer.
