Mr Fundisile Mketeni is the Chief Executive Officer of South African National Parks (SANParks). He holds a M.Sc. Environmental Management and has 25 years’ experience in the development and management of protected areas, tourism development and management, conservation of biodiversity and public sector management.
Fundisile has played leading roles in the development and implementation of South Africa’s rhino anti-poaching legislation and policies; the negotiations of the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES); the development and implementation of the country’s Elephant Management Plan; the implementation of the People and Parks programme and of Transfrontier Conservation Areas, among others.
