Junior Operational Officer
Ms Savanna Strauss is a passionate young woman who has spent the majority of her life growing up in wildlife reserves and national parks, such as The Kruger National Park. Here she found her enthusiasm for preserving the natural environment for future generations and helped environmental monitoring teams with various projects, such as rhino monitoring and dehorning.
Savanna completed her Bachelor of Arts in Development and Environment at Stellenbosch University. After graduating, she spent time interning at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the Klein Karoo working closely with their Conservation Team.
At AWEI, Savanna is undertaking research tasks related to diverse wildlife economy topics; she is supporting the intitute's stakeholder engagement events; and she is contributing to all communication and outreach activities.
