Prof Brian Child is a recognised academic, educator, practitioner and scholar in the fields of protected area economics, wildlife and community cross-scale governance, sustainability and capacity building. He has forty years experience in park management, private conservation and CBNRM in southern Africa.

Among other roles, he chaired IUCN’s Southern African Sustainable Use Specialist Group for six years; led the development of Zimbabwe’s Communal Area Management Programme for Indigenous Resources (CAMPFIRE); and did extensive consulting for World Bank, UNDP, NORAD, USAID, and more.

Brian currently is Associate Professor at the Center for African Studies, University of Florida.
