Professor Louw Hoffman is an internationally recognized expert on exotic meats. He currently is professor of Meat Science at the Centre for Nutrition and Food Sciences, University of Queensland, Australia. Previously, he was Head of Department at Animal Sciences, Stellenbosch University.
Throughout his career, Louw's work encompassed fields such as animal behaviour and husbandry, aquaculture, extensive management systems, game meat hygiene, and his recent research focuses on the black soldier fly as potential new protein source for humans.
