Research interests:
Urban form and function, sustainable urban development, urban liveability and quality of life, open space systems in urban areas and the application of statistics in the field of Urban and Regional Science.
Biography
As a post-graduate, Lodene Willemse researched the extent and impact of land cover changes in Franschhoek and taking a class-differentiated approach to community/neighbourhood park use in Cape Town. The recommendations made in her Master’s degree have been utilised by the City Parks Department to improve their service delivery. She worked as a student assistant for the Geography and African Languages (IsiXhosa) Departments, which involved teaching students, assisting students with GIS practical demonstrations and marking assignments of various Geography subjects. She worked as a GIS and urban/human geography (research) intern at the CSIR in 2009. She joined CRUISE in 2010.
