Gary Cotterell

Profile

Gary Cotterell is a former architect and a recent graduate of the PGDip in Sustainable Development at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions. He is also a seasoned editor, writer, and interdisciplinary collaborator. He was the founding editor of Wanted, Business Day’s arts, culture and lifestyle magazine, and Elle Decor SA’s first editor-at-large. He was the launch editor on Ogojiii, a design-led Pan-African publication exploring African and global issues from an African perspective, adopting a design-centric approach to reporting and presentation. As an advocate of local sustainable design, he is a founding board member of the Design Foundation, an independent, professional-led body that nurtures and awards new and established talent in the South African design industry. Gary is an active board member of Twyg, a purpose-driven not-for-profit inspiring and supporting a modern, eco-conscious and forward-thinking lifestyle on our continent. As editor-at-large, he has regular columns in Wanted and Sunday Times’ magazines.
