Profile
Amanda October holds a BSc degree in Earth Science. She changed direction from her initial interest and spent 14 years in the insurance, investment, and steel industries before joining the higher education sector, first at the African Doctoral Academy (ADA) and afterwards at the South African Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (SACEMA) where she focused on financial systems and working closely with students and the postgraduate programmes. Working at these two institutions prepared her for the role of MPhil and PhD administrative officer at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions where she navigates the world of student administration, finance, and general and specific systems information about these programmes. Amanda is driven by watching the growth of students but more importantly seeing them walk across the graduation stage.
