Edwin Cleophas

Profile

Edwin Cleophas is a dedicated family man with a profound commitment to youth development and the transformation of South Africa. He has been actively involved in youth development for most of his life. He holds a BTh degree in Theology, an Honours degree in Psychology, a BPsych equivalent degree, a Master’s degree in Development Studies – Social Development, is a registered Psychometrist with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa and is currently pursuing a PhD at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions.

Edwin collaborates with various civil society organisations and corporates through his non-profit organisation, The Social Justice Agency (TheSJA). The organisation focuses on navigating difficult conversations around race-based disparities in South Africa and raises funds to provide free career development for students from disadvantaged communities, addressing issues such as poverty and unemployment. Edwin’s anti-racism activism has gained him notoriety from the national government’s Department for Sport, Arts, and Culture, where he was appointed by Minister Nathi Mthethwa as a Social Cohesion Advocate and elected as the Secretary-General for Social Cohesion and Nation Building in South Africa.
