Enabled by funding from the National Research Foundation, the Renewable Energy for Transitions (RE4T) group supports postgraduate research on the developmental impacts of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme. This includes research that focuses on urban energy governance, socio-economic and enterprise development, and social performance within the utility scale procurement programme. The objectives of this research group are to advance the academic debate on just energy transitions and support sustainable developmental impact of the energy sector in South Africa.
