Neale Howarth

Profile

Neale Howarth has lived and worked in the Eastern Cape for most of his life. Based on a private game reserve just outside of Makhanda, Neale’s work focuses on conservation and community development as part of the greater functioning of the landscape. Neale’s research reflects this work and focuses on the interactions of private game reserves and their impacts on the greater landscape, considering aspects such as socio-economic and environmental change. Neale is also the chairperson of the Indalo Protected Environment, a collection of eight private game reserves that strive for collective conservation and community upliftment goals.
