Wendy McCallum
Profile
Wendy McCallum is a researcher at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions (CST), working on Reconfiguring Energy for Post-Covid-19 Development (ReCODE), a module embedded in the Reconfiguring Energy for Social Equity project, in collaboration with partners at Utrecht University, the Indian Institute for Human Settlements, and the University of Freiburg.
Wendy completed her Masters in Philosophy in Development Finance in 2021 and holds a postgraduate degree in Future Studies and an undergraduate degree in Economics. It is the convergence of these academic qualifications, coupled with Wendy’s practical experience in the renewable energy sector in South Africa, that informs her philosophy and transdisciplinary research methodologies.
Prior to joining CST, Wendy has worked at the Development Bank of Southern Africa, managing the Rural Economic Development Initiative, which is where she started her work within the renewable energy sector. Wendy has worked to bring together financiers, developers, provincial and local government and communities in shaping innovative, socially just approaches to Socio-Economic Development commitments in renewable energy projects.
