Welcome to Stellenbosch University International

About us

Stellenbosch University International (SU International) is a support service division that falls under the responsibility area of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Strategy and Internationalisation. We contribute to SU’s institutional objectives and support all faculties with their internationalisation activities. We also ensure that international students have access to an integrated, University-wide package of support services so that internationalisation at SU can continue to grow.

More specifically, we:

  • develop and implement SU’s strategic plan to internationalise the University and its core business of research, learning and teaching as well as social impact;
  • form sustainable and meaningful alliances and partnerships to support SU’s academic project;
  • enhance SU’s existing support services to promote global engagement on campus, in the local community, the region, and Africa and beyond;
  • incorporate an element of global engagement into the student experience at SU, promoting the idea of internationalisation-at-home; and
  • help develop scholarship in Africa.

These aims we pursue through our seven centres, namely:

  • the Africa Centre for Scholarship;
  • the Centre for Collaboration in Africa;
  • the Centre for Partnerships and Internationalisation Support;
  • the Global Education Centre;
  • the Services Centre;
  • the Confucius Institute at Stellenbosch University; and
  • the Office of the Senior Director.
