Heritage Guild officially launched

Almost 300 donors, alumni, staff and friends of Stellenbosch University (SU) attended the official launch of the Heritage Guild at the end of last year. The aim of the event, held at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset-West, was to introduce the Heritage Guild and to thank those who have confirmed that they've left a bequest to the University.

Prof Russel Botman, SU Rector and speaker at the event, said the Heritage Guild is an "association of special individuals that confirmed in their lifetimes that the University holds a very important place in their heritage. It is indeed a future-driven, deliberate action that means a great deal to the University and for which we sincerely thank each member for their show of trust in our future."

According to Mr Hugo Steyn, Coordinator: Bequests, Development and Alumni relations, the attendance was great. He extended a special thanks to the members of the Heritage Guild who attended the event and also to alumni who came to support the University.
"Membership of the Guild is not only a way to give recognition to benefactors who will honour the University with a bequest, but also an opportunity to keep this special group of benefactors informed about what is happening at the University and to show how their bequests will make a difference in people's lives."

Membership to the Heritage Guild is open to anyone who confirms in writing that they have left a bequest of any nature to the University.
