Chanda Mwale

Chanda is a natural resources specialist, focusing on the wildlife economy sector. Her areas of interest are the intersection between environment and development for the continent. Chanda is Executive Director at the Wildlife Producer’s Association of Zambia (WPAZ) where she is the strategic and programmatic lead for the Association’s first full time Secretariat. WPAZ is a membership-based association that exists to grow the community and private wildlife estate in Zambia and an AWEI Partner Organisation.

Chanda is passionate about Africa charting its own path to sustainable development and ensuring this is done through innovative partnerships. She currently sits on the advisory board for African Leadership University School of Wildlife Conservation and is a Women for Environment 2022 Fellow.

Tariro Kamuti

Dr Tariro Kamuti is a Research Fellow at the African Wildlife Economy Institute at Stellenbosch University, as well as at the Global Risk Governance Programme at the University of Cape Town and the Earth System Governance. He holds a joint PhD in Geography from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands and the University of the Free State, South Africa.

Tariro’s research interests include land and environmental policy, climate change, governance issues surrounding sustainable utilisation of natural resources, the social and economic dimensions of biodiversity conservation, sustainable rural and urban development. He is currently working on game farming/wildlife ranching and wildlife policy in South Africa.

Victor K. Muposhi

Professor Victor K. Muposhi is an AWEI Research Fellow. He is a holder of a Doctor of Philosophy in Conservation Biology (CUT, 2016) and has more than 10 years of academic experience, research and community engagement on conservation and environmental issues.

Victor endeavours to develop and support complementary pathways that engage and support conservation stakeholders (including local communities) to create an enabling environment thus reducing pressure on vulnerable ecosystems, wildlife and conservation areas. Victor also serves on the Advisory Board of the International Anti-Poaching Foundation.
