Digital Alumni Newsletter | Summer 2019

Our Alumni Relations team, through our extensive alumni engagement programmes, continue to put our alumni at the centre of a connected global network of people and experiences. Everything that we do revolves around connecting our people, past and present, to more opportunities, knowledge and resources.

It’s a mutually beneficial relationship, encouraging you to continue to build on the legacy that all our alumni have created while helping us to involve our alumni from across the generations in the continued sustainability of this outstanding institution. Keep in touch with us via Maties Connect ( and look out for our diverse range of lifelong interactions and engagement opportunities that we’re offering to alumni in 2020 and beyond. (Check out the Calendar.)

A particular highlight to look out for next year is our Homecoming and Family Weekend that is scheduled to take place from 5 to 9 March 2020 on our picturesque Stellenbosch campus. We have planned an exciting range of activities tailormade for Maties of all ages and interests. This is your chance to reconnect with old friends and to relive those wonderful student days.

Then, don’t forget to join us for the 2020 Cape Town Cycle tour where alumni and friends will be cycling and fundraising in support of our #Move4Food campaign. Enjoy the fun and camaraderie with our special edition #Move4Food cycling T-shirt, post-event hospitality as well as the opportunity to ride with our Rector, Prof Wim de Villiers and fellow alumni. Limited charity entries are available for purchase directly from us, and you can fundraise for this worthy cause. Contact Siya Ndlovu at to sign up.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to our Alumni-Club in 2020. Be sure to look out for all the details as well as the various Homecoming events and related activities on or follow our various social media platforms for the latest updates.

We would like to wish you and your loved ones an enjoyable and peaceful festive season and best wishes for a happy and successful 2020.
