On 3 September, Hélène Jacquet, Vice-President: Strategy and Development at the University of Bordeaux in France, led a delegation consisting of colleagues Charlotte Cosin, Innovation and Business Relations Officer – Digital & Artificial Intelligence, and Olivier Ly, Director: RHOBAN (Humanoid and Autonomous Robotics), as well as Mathieu Bécue, attaché for innovation at the French Embassy to South Africa. The group was in South Africa to attend the Artificial Intelligence Africa Expo as well as the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) congress. Their visit to SU was aimed at capitalising on existing collaborations between the universities of Bordeaux and Stellenbosch, and negotiating deeper bilateral relations. The delegation met with Prof Benoit Divol from the Department of Viticulture and Oenology, and with Prof Wim Delva, the acting director of the School for Data Science and Computational Thinking.

French business school SKEMA and Stellenbosch University (SU) have joined forces to open a SKEMA campus in Stellenbosch. This will be SKEMA’s seventh campus globally. The partnership, which was officially launched on 31 January 2020, is set to significantly contribute to achieving the objectives of SU’s internationalisation strategy.
