INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

To many Maties, attending a semester exchange abroad is the stuff of dreams. It offers an exciting opportunity to meet new people, explore different parts of the world, immerse oneself in the local culture, and experience new ways of learning at your host institution.  

French business school SKEMA and Stellenbosch University (SU) have joined forces to open a SKEMA campus in Stellenbosch. This will be SKEMA’s seventh campus globally. The partnership, which was officially launched on 31 January 2020, is set to significantly contribute to achieving the objectives of SU’s internationalisation strategy.

Each year, hundreds of students from universities across the world enrol for Stellenbosch University’s short programmes to add an international dimension to their learning, and experience SU and South Africa to boot. Building on this success, SU International’s Global Education Centre (GEC) has expanded its short programme offering for 2019. By Marie Prötzsch

Every year, about 300 Matie students participate in Study Abroad programmes at Stellenbosch University (SU) partner institutions across the world. Processing their applications and placing them at institutions abroad is quite a responsibility, which falls to two SU International coordinators responsible for summer schools and longer exchanges respectively. Sarah van der Westhuizen, programme coordinator: semester mobility, has given us greater insight in the processes SU International follows to provide students with an international experience.

Stellenbosch University (SU) International has launched the Support Staff Development Programme, giving support service staff the opportunity to undertake benchmark visits to partner institutions in Europe.

There are numerous opportunities for Stellenbosch University (SU) staff to gain international experience. SU International organises regular information sessions on international mobility options for current and newly appointed staff members. The following staff opportunities are available:
