read moreStellenbosch University bestow honorary doctorates on Dr Shirley Ann Jackson, President of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in the USA and Prof John Latham, Vice-Chancellor of Coventry University during the April 2019 graduation ceremonies. Dr Jackson, a member of President Barack Obama's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology and first African American woman to obtain a doctorate in physics in the USA and Prof Latham, hailed a visionary leader by many, were among the numerous international visitors on campus this term, meeting with staff and members of the senior leadership.
