Wat is ons toekomsvisie vir die Fakulteit AgriWetenskappe
en die rol van die ASA?

Om die Fakulteit en komitee meer betrokke by die gemeenskap te kry in die volgende manier:

Om die geleenthede wat die Fakulteit AgriWetenskappe bied beter bekend te stel aan moontlike toekomstige studente in minder bevoorregte areas.
Begin deur as komitee na skole in die Stellenbosch area te gaan en op 'n informele wyse met die skoliere te gesels oor wat AgriWetenskappe behels, watter beurse beskikbaar is en die verskillende rigtings wat jy kan volg in AgriWetenskappe.
In die proses moet die stigma afgebreek word rondom landbou wat slegs boerdery behels en slegs bestem is vir sekere rassegroepe. Om hierdie stigma af te breek, sal daar klem gelê word op tegnologiese deurbrake en vordering in die landbou, tipe geleenthede beskikbaar t.o.v beroepe en die tipe navorsing wat by die universiteit gedoen word.
Skoliere se vrae sal sodoende beantwoord word tot die beste van die komitee se vermoë. Waar onsekerheid heers oor vrae sal kontakinligting aan die skoliere verskaf word, sodat hulle weet met wie om te gesels indien hulle meer wil uitvind oor die wêreld van AgriWetenskappe.

Deur die student en dosent verhouding te verbeter:

Kan gedoen word deur die implimentering van sosiale geleenthede soos braaie, waar uitnodigings gerig sal word aan beide dosente en studente.
'n Forum op die AgriWetenskappe webtuiste op te rig waar kwessies op die webblad bespreek kan word deur beide dosente en studente.
'n Platvorm te skep waar dosente, studente se navrae kan beantwoord aangaande akademie, die bedryf en aktuele kwessies. Hetsy in die vorm van gespreksessies oor etenstyd of spesiale geleenthede na-ure.

Missie

Die AgriWetenskappe Studente Assosiasie streef daarna om die akademiese sowel as sosiale belange van die vereniging se lede te bevorder.

Hierdie missie word nagestreef deur verteenwoordiging op die Fakulteitsraad en ander geselekteerde komitees van die fakulteit, asook deur direkte skakeling met die Dekaan om aktuele studentesake en – kwessies te bespreek.

Die vereniging het ook verteenwoordigers in die verskillende departemente van die fakulteit en poog daardeur om meer sigbaar te wees en sodoende die belange van sy lede te bevorder.

Die vereniging reël ŉ verskeidenheid van byeenkomste deur die jaar vir sy lede waar akademiese sake en sosiale aspekte aangespreek word.

What is our future vision for the Faculty of AgriSciences
and the role of the ASA?

To get the Faculty and committee more involved with the community in the following manner:

To introduce the opportunities that are offered by the Faculty of AgriSciences to possible future students coming from less privileged areas.
Beginning as a committee to go to schools in the Stellenbosch area and to talk to scholars in an informal manner as to what AgriSciences involve, what bursaries are available and which different courses you can follow in AgriSciences.
In the process the stigma of agriculture only being about farming and intended to be for certain racial groups should be broken. To break this stigma, the main focus will be on technological breakthroughs and improvements in agriculture, the types of opportunities available in terms of occupation and the type of research done by the university.
Scholars' questions will be answered in the committee's best ability. If there are still uncertainties, contact information will be provided to the scholars, so that they know whom to talk to in case they want to know more about the world of AgriSciences.

To improve the students' relationship with the lecturers:

This can be done by the implementation of social events like braais where invitations will be sent to lecturers and students.
A Forum on the AgriSciences website is constructed where issues can be discussed on the webpage by the students and lecturers.
A platform is created where students and lecturers queries can be answered concerning academics, the industry and actual issues. This can be in the form of discussion sessions over lunchtime or special events during after hours.

Mission

The AgriSciences Student Association strives to improve the academic as well as the social interests of the members of the society.

This mission is pursued by representation on the Faculty Council and other selected committees of the faculty, as well as direct contact with the Dean to discuss present student affairs and issues.

The society has representatives for the different departments of the faculty and attempts to be more visible and in doing so improving the interests of our members.

The society organizes several events throughout the year for their members. This is an opportunity to address academic and social aspects.
