Exam Time

Yes, it’s that time of year already. The first semester’s exam are upon us. Here’s just a few tips to remind you of how we do exam time in Harmonie:

No men are allowed in res over the weekends. We expect minimum noise at all times. This includes All-Calls, in the quad and on the stoep. The Swottery is ONLY for Harmonie girls during the exams. Please respect your fellow Harmonie friends and give them the opportunity to prepare.

Good luck to everyone for your exams! We trust that you will all your best!

Don’t forget about Royal’s coffee, tea and cake in the Cookery at 10:00 every morning! Bring your own mug!

Look how lovely our netball ladies look! Our two netball teams have recently finished with the residence summer league, and the results will be released soon. The fixtures for the upcoming winter league will also appear on the website, so keep an eye out.

Harmonie & Huis Visser MAD² 2014

Monday, 6 May was a very special day for all the ladies in Harmonie. It is the night the men from Huis Visser surprised us and confirmed that Harmonie and Huis Visser will be pairing up for MAD² 2014.

Their act of acceptance to all our spading attempts was to set a anchor made from hay alight outside Harmonie while serenading the ladies. They ended with a warcry that made the Harmoniete cheer. They also gifted us with a sweet thing. Thanks gents!

 

It’s been coming for a while and the time is finally here. The Harmonie and Huis Visser MAD² is going to be epic. Can’t wait!

Soccer Update

Here is an update on how Harmonie’s soccer team has been doing this past year. There are still two postponed games, one official fixture as well as a friendly game that still needs to be played.

Results thus far:

Soccer0 – 2 Loss against Goldfields

2 – 0 Win against Elsenburg

1 – 1 Draw against Lydia

0 – 0 Draw against Heemstede

Automatic win against Nemesia

They are currently being coached by Grant Gelderbloem. Thanks Grant and Melissa for taking being Harmonie’s name into the soccer community. Keep it up!

Huisfonsdans 2013

Huisfonsdans 2013 was something different this year. For starters, the venue changed to Tollies, a local club who catered for our pizza and drinks. The theme was “H-party” which meant everyone should dress as something/someone starting with the letter “H” (Yes, “H” for Harmonie). This theme brought out some interesting and creative outfits including Hobo’s, Hunters,  Hikers and even Hanepoot Grapes.The secondyears committee changed it up by using the signature dance glass for dessert instead of for drinks.

A big thanks goes out to the second years committee for daring to make the change. What a memorable night!

Toneelfees 2013

Hierdie jaar het Harmonie twee produksies by die jaarlikse Toneelfees opgevoer. “Die Wonderlike van der Walts”, deur ons eie Patricia Zalie geskryf, was deur Harmonie en Huis Marais opgevoer die eerste aand. Drie aande later het Harmonie en Simonsberg die gehoor vermaak met hul eie vertolking van “That 70′s Show”.

Albei produksies het gehoor laat skater en ons will graag vir al die ondersteuners baie dankie sê dat hulle daar was. Dankie ook aan al die deelnemers en geluk met ‘n suksesvolle Toneelfees.

Seniorsdans

Rekord is gemaak: Harmonie se eerste seniorsdans sedert 1905!! Hierdie was ‘n aand wat die seniors bietjie kon skoene uitskop, meer as gewoontlik grimering opsit en dans tot die son opkom. Dit was die initiatief van die seniorskomitee (ook ‘n nuwe byvoegsel tot die vele komitees) en hulle het hulself goed van hul taak gekwyt! Baie dankie aan elkeen wat die aand bygewoon het, die quad was propvol en elke komitee-lid wat hard gewerk het om die aand moontlik te maak. Hopelik is dit die begin van vele seniorsdanse in ons ryke geskiedenis!
