The CGA is proud to be one of the winners of the SAEOchallenge!
It seems that the judges agreed that our earth observation technology to map and monitor water use of irrigated agriculture at national scale is highly innovative. We hope that this exposure will lead to the operationalisation of the technology so that we can soon start to provide a much-needed service to the public and private sectors.
Many thanks to the organisers, SANSA, DigitalGlobe and other sponsors/partners, for the opportunity. Thanks also for the wonderful prizes – we will certainly put it to good use!
We would also like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude the Water Research Commission (WRC), in particular Dr Gerhard Backeberg, for making this technology possible. Our sincerest gratitude is also extended to the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF), in particular Ms Mary-Jean Gabriel, for co-funding the technology development.
