Prof Manfred Spocter is an urban geographer by training and is an NRF-rated researcher.
He has previously worked in the fields of education, geographic information systems, environmental management, crime analysis, tourism, transport and small-town economic planning. In addition to research, analysis and planning, he has been project manager for provincial projects in the Western Cape and Limpopo and numerous small-town economic research projects in the Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and the Free State. These projects have served to inform policy and practice at various levels of government.
Prof Spocter has been the recipient of a certificate of recognition for teaching excellence at Stellenbosch University.
