Trish has lectured in Disaster Risk Studies at post-graduate level since 2009, placing a strong emphasis on experiential learning through community-based field projects. More recently she has taught hazard geography to undergraduate students. While her research focuses on the inherent links between risk and development, she also undertakes disaster risk assessments and conducts post-event analyses. This enables the incorporation of topical risk and development issues into her teaching material encouraging lively classroom discussion.
