Eli Bitzer is emeritus professor at Stellenbosch University. He has worked in the field of higher education for over 40 years, has published widely and was the editor or co-editor of seven scholarly books. He has also successfully supervised more than 90 master’s and doctoral students. Professor Bitzer is an NRF-rated researcher in the established researcher category, has received the rector's award for excellence in educational research at Stellenbosch University as well as the chancellor's award for a lifelong contribution to promoting excellence in research at the institution. His current interest is promoting postgraduate supervision, doctoral education and the quality of postgraduate research.
