Hessie has a strong background in education, curriculum development and teaching across different school phases, as well as school principal and facility manager. She is a graduate from the MPhil programme at the Centre for Higher and Adult Education at Stellenbosch University, and a current associate at the Centre. Her PhD-study at Stellenbosch University focused on creativity in initial teacher education and she currently serves as part-time lecturer in Curriculum Studies at the Faculty of Education.
