CHAE Staff

Magda is Emerita Professor of Higher Education Studies in the Department of Curriculum Studies and the Centre for Higher and Adult Education, Faculty of Education, Stellenbosch University. She holds qualifications from the University of the Free State and Stellenbosch University, and has worked for thirty years at various public universities in South Africa as a researcher, lecturer, supervisor and senior administrator. Her research includes work on higher education governance, leadership and management, student learning and development, quality assurance and transformation. She has supervised and co-supervised 14 doctoral students to completion, and has authored and co-authored more than forty contributions to scholarly journals, books and research reports. Magda served two consecutive terms on both Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training in South Africa, and the Council of Higher Education. She is currently still a member of the Institutional Audits Committee of the Council on Higher Education.

Magda is professor emerita in Hoëronderwysstudies in die Department Kurrikulumstudie en die Sentrum vir Hoër- en Volwassene-onderwys, Fakulteit Opvoedkunde, Universiteit Stellenbosch. Sy beskik oor kwalifikasies van sowel die Universiteit van die Vrystaat as Universiteit Stellenbosch, en het dertig jaar ervaring aan verskillende universiteite in Suid-Afrika as navorser, dosent, studieleier en senior bestuurder. Haar navorsing dek hoëronderwysbeheer, -bestuur en -leierskap, studenteleer en -ontwikkeling, gehalteversekering en transformasie. Sy het 14 doktorale student tot voltooiing begelei en het meer as veertig bydraes tot vakwetenskaplike joernale, boeke en navorsingsverslae op haar kerfstok. Magda het twee agtereenvolgende termyne gedien op sowel Umalusi, die Gehalteversekeringsliggaam vir Algemene en Verdere Onderwys en Opleiding in Suid-Afrika, as die Raad op Hoër Onderwys. Sy is tans steeds lid van die Institusionele Ouditkomitee van die Raad op Hoëronderwys.
