A To-Do-List for Mentees

The online responsibilities of mentees are outlined below. A toolbox with online resources, including a study skills DVD in three languages, is also offered. Mentees are encouraged to utilise these free resources and to recommend them to their fellow mentees.

Roadmap for Mentees

  1. Register as a mentee.   All mentees must register on the online platform. Your information will then be checked.  This step is compulsory.
  2. Check and study your email.  You will receive an email within 2-3 working days with your login information and information about how to access your personalised Module Mentorship website.
  3. Login and discover your membership area.  Explore the main site (www0.sun.ac.za/modulementor) and learn about all your online responsibilities. Try out all the links. Login to your personalised Module Mentorship website and familiarise yourself with its contents. Save the location of your site for easy access in the future.
  4. Book your sessions.  Book your first mentoring session - very important.
  5. Learn from your mentor...    Discuss the online platform with your mentor, learn what is expected from you and make sure you know about the resources that are available online. Make sure you know how to book and review sessions.
  6. Reserve your spot in mentoring sessions.  All mentees should book their spots in mentoring sessions. Your mentor will be able to help you if you struggle to use the system (it is really easy!). It is compulsory to reserve your spot for all sessions you are planning to attend.
  7. Evaluate the sessions you have attended.  It is not compulsory for mentees to evaluate each mentoring session. Mentees are, however, encouraged to  evaluate as many sessions as possible. These reviews are done in the same style as popular sites like www.tripadvisor.co.za and will help improve the system and the quality of the mentoring.
  8. Grow personally and empower others.  Invest in your personal growth. Grow your knowledge and skills further by consulting the wellness-based colection of multimedia resources that are accesible from your site.
  9. Evaluate your Mentor.  Mentees must evaluate the skill, behaviour and attitude of their mentors and also provide their opinions about the Module Mentorship Programme overall. This will improve the quality of the programme and will lead to better mentoring sessions.
  10. Study your personalised Module Mentorship website.  Regularly pay a visit to your own individualised and secure Module Mentorship website! Remember that it has: 1. A to-do list and all the forms you need to record your involvement in mentoring activities; 2. individualised reports on your mentoring activities; 3. ebooks; 4. audiobooks; 5. videos; 6. journals and 7. profile pages.
  11. Complete the Module Mentor Reflection Questionnaire.  Give your view on the Module Mentorship programme by completing this online questionnaire. It will become available on the site a week or two before the end of each mentoring cycle. Complete it for very module for which you have received mentoring support during the semester or year.
