Brief Academic History

Ms Naidoo obtained her undergraduate degrees in psychology and master’s degree in clinical psychology at the University of KwaZulu Natal, Howard College Campus. During this time, she gained clinical, forensic, and neuropsychological experience working in public health throughout KZN. Thereafter, she was appointed as Lecturer in the psychology department at UKZN Pietermaritzburg campus, where she primarily taught and co-ordinated courses in psychopathology at the undergraduate level, and neuropsychology among other areas at the postgraduate level. She has experience in clinical and research supervision and practices psychological assessment and therapy privately part-time. Ms Naidoo left SA in 2019 to pursue full time doctoral studies in England and returned to SA in 2020.

Research:

Ms Naidoo is currently registered with the doctorate in clinical psychology programme at the University of East Anglia in England. Her research looks at the influence of cultural orientation on identity changes post acquired brain Injury. Other research interests are in the following areas:

  • Clinical neuropsychology
  • Social neuropsychology
  • Cross cultural neuropsychology

Golden Key International Honour Society

In May 2021, Ms Naidoo was appointed as Community Service director of the Golden Key International Honour Society (GKIHS) Alumni Committee. Her primary role is to plan and execute community service activities targeted at GK members, primarily at a provincial level but also with the potential of collaborating with other chapters at a national level. The key focus is on preparing GKIHS members with sought after soft skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and empathy, to increase their employability but also as part of their continuing professional development. Ms Naidoo is currently transitioning from the KZN to the Western Cape Alumni Committee. The University of Stellenbosch is a recognised chapter of the GKIHS, and she looks forward to engaging with the needs of its members.
