Tataokhona is a cross-institutional, multi-disciplinary, and multi-year Project housed at Stellenbosch University.

The Tataokhona Project aims to support and produce research and interventions related to fathers, fatherhood and associated topics. A key player in the community of practice around issues of fathers and fatherhood, the Project principals intend it to be a home for South African, regional, continental, and international resources on fathers and fatherhood that help South African men to become more involved in parenting.

The flagship output of Tataokhona is the State of South Africa’s Father Report. The State of South Africa’s Father Report is associated with the State of the World’s Fathers Report and the MenCare Global Fatherhood campaign.

The State of South Africa’s Fathers Report is published every three years.

The 1st State of South Africa’s Fathers Report (SOSAF 2018) was published in 2018.
