Research

My main research project is my current PhD study. I am exploring the explanatory models of mental health amongst Muslims in the Western Cape. With my PhD I hope to explore the needs of South African Muslims in order to reach a more culturally appropriate model of treatment. In addition, this study aims to create awareness amongst Muslims about mental health and its treatment. This study will serve as the first step in working towards a framework for culturally appropriate models of treatment.

Research topics

Other current research topics include infertility and psychosocial treatment, the psychology of abstract mathematics.
