Capstone assignment title:
Towards An African Doctoral Mentorship Model
Capstone assignment abstract:

This paper presents mentorship in doctoral education as an alternative approach to good supervision practice and a powerful way of nurturing an enabling scholarly environment that African Higher Education can embrace in order to confront high attrition rate and enhance completion of doctoral education. Mentorship is critical in producing quality PhDs that can contribute towards the development of Africa’s economies and boost the regenerative capacity of our universities as retiring senior professors become replaced by a cadre of young and well skilled scholars. Through a synthesis of available literature on doctoral mentorship, the paper recommends a mentorship model that can be considered as part of supervision practice in Africa’s PhDs production.
