CREST is currently inviting applications from candidates for the position of a researcher to assist in the M&E support programme of the UCDP (University Capacity Development Programme) of the DHET.
A team at CREST, lead by Prof. Johann Mouton and Dr Lauren Wildschut, currently provides ongoing technical support to South African universities that participate in the UCDP (https://www.dhet.gov.za/SitePages/University-Student-and-Staff-Development.aspx). The position that is vacant requires the successful candidate to work with the CREST team in providing ongoing feedback on UCDP projects in the areas of staff development, student development and programme renewal.
The successful candidate will have a Masters degree in Monitoring and Evaluation studies (or equivalent) from Stellenbosch University or another reputable institution. The person would typically possess the following knowledge and skills:
- Basic understanding of M&E concepts and principles
- An understanding and experience working with programme theories of change and logic models/ logframeS
- A basic understanding of programme level indicators
- A basic understanding of evaluation design (process evaluation, monitoring and impact assessment)
Because this person will assist the CREST team in their engagements with the DHET and UCDP teams at the 26 South African universities, the candidate should have good interpersonal and communication skills and knowledge of the South African higher education system will be a recommendation.
This position is immediately available and may involve a 3 – 4 year contract appointment.
