A monitoring and evaluation framework for the South African Science, Technology and Innovation System
In 2019, SciSTIP (DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence in Scientometrics and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy) completed a study under commission from the National Advisory Council on Innovation entitled “A monitoring and evaluation framework for the South African Science, Technology and Innovation System”. This report included a review of the main systemic, institutional and programmatic evaluations and reviews of South Africa science, technology and innovation since 2000. The main content of the report consists of a comprehensive and integrated M&E framework to monitor and evaluate the performance of the SA STI system.
A review of the National Research and Development and Strategy (NRDS) and the Ten-year Innovation Plan (TYIP)
In 2020, SciSTIP completed a comprehensive review of the National Research and Development and Strategy (2002) and the Ten-year Innovation Plan (2008) under commission by the National Advisory Council on Innovation. The study was completed in May 2020.
The review of the NRDS and TYIP not only reviewed these two strategic policy frameworks, but also the more than 20 subsidiary and domain-specific strategies contained in them. The report, together with the appendices of these individual strategy reviews, resulted in a report of more than 800 pages.
