Dr Lauren Wildschut is the director of the Evaluation Studies Programme at CREST where she is responsible for the Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation (PGD MEM), MPhil in Monitoring and Evaluation (MME) and PhD in Evaluation Studies. She has worked in the field of evaluation for over 20 years and has conducted evaluation studies in eight African countries in the fields of Education, Higher Education and Health. She has worked with a range of clients, including government, non-governmental groups, international development agencies and foundations in Africa.
She is a legacy Chairperson of the South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA) and is the current Chair of the Advisory Committee to SAMEA. Dr Wildschut is also a member of the International Society for Evaluation Educators (ISEE) which aims to promote quality evaluation education and to stimulate collaboration amongst those who teach evaluation. She is a reviewer for the African Journal of Evaluation, the International Journal of Qualitative Methods and the Evaluation Journal of Australasia.
Dr Wildschut is a Senior Professional Trainer for ATLAS.ti and CREST is a Certified ATLAS.ti Training Organisation (CATO). She has been involved in qualitative data analysis for over 15 years and has trained students in qualitative data analysis both in her courses at CREST and in the African Doctoral Academy since 2009.
She is currently working on evaluator competencies (American Evaluation Association Working Group), self-assessment of evaluation competencies and building the African Evaluation Database (AfrED).
