The scholarly and societal contribution of South African research in the social sciences: A study of three disciplines
The study focuses on issues of research evaluation in the social sciences, with reference to three disciplines (political science, psychology and sociology). Among others, the study investigates the trends and patterns of (mainly university) research output in each of the disciplines. The data source is the list of publications specified in the SA Knowledgebase at CREST. Lastly, the study also analyses the citation profile of books and book chapters in the three disciplines, by using alternative methods such as LibCitations and Google Books.
