The past three decades have witnessed a growing emphasis on both research evaluation (under the force of new performance management and evaluation regimes) and – as a corollary – the uptake, use and impact of research. The obvious approach to ‘unpack’ this research line, is according to the levels of analysis or assessment: from the system or country level to institutional reviews as well as evaluations of research teams.
