Welcome to Goldfields, the oldest mixed-race, mixed-gender university residence in South Africa. Together with Academia, Huis Marais, Huis Visser, Isa Carstens, Simonsberg and Olympus we form the VALIDUS cluster, a huge collaborative listening, learning and living community.
Goldfields houses 174 students in fourteen blocks with six people on a floor in two double and two single rooms, creating nested networks of friends who form one great student family.
You will find a single bed and a mattress in your room, a desk, bookshelf, cupboard, curtains and a bin. You will have to bring your own bedding, reading lamp, clothes and hangers, SABS approved multi-plug and 3 medium-sized padlocks. Although the residence is fenced-in and has a patrolling security guard, it is good practice to lock your cupboard, room door and belongings.
Goldfields is sowat sewe minute se stap vanaf die Neelsie Studentesentrum, die Rooiplein en die biblioteek. Moet asseblief nie ‘n motor kampus toe bring nie; daar is voldoende fietsryroetes en bussiedienste. Please don’t bring a motor vehicle to campus!
Voetsel, skoonmaak en instandhoudingsdienste word verskaf en daar is was- en ontspanningsgeriewe op die perseel, met ‘n netwerkpunt of twee (vir internet) in elke kamer.

The welcoming programme is voluntary, but we invite you to join us for all the activities. We are planning an informative, fun-filled week to make you feel at home, register for all the right classes and kick off an exciting year!
Ons skakel met ‘n koshuis en privaatwyk vir MAL2, Vensters (‘n straatteater-produksie) en ander MAL2 aktiwiteite. Die einddoel is om geld vir Matie Gemeenskapdiens in te samel.
Ons kan nie wag om jou te ontmoet nie! Om seker te maak dat jy sosiaal en akademies aanpas, word jy by ‘n mentorgroep ingedeel waar ‘n senior student gesprekke met jou en ses tot agt eerstejaarstudente sal fasiliteer. Jy moet dit nie net hier geniet nie; ons wil saam met jou graad vang ook!
