Capstone assignment abstract:

My capstone assignment presents a personal assessment of the current state of doctoral training at the University of Yaoundé I. It aims at providing a subjective insight of this training, especially since little information is available. In particular, it aims at providing information about he challenges faced by doctoral students and supervisors, as well as possible solutions to improve the research environment, in order to make it more scholarly. The essay is organised as follows. First a literature review is presented. Then, the methodology is detailed. This methodlogy was questions were formulated using the objectives of a doctoral training program, as established in the Salzburg Principles. The results are presented for both surveys and finally some conclusions, as well as a personal assessment on how the DIES/CREST Training on doctoral supervisors could be could help improve one‟s role as a supervisor at the University of Yaoundé I in the future.
