Inorganic nanoparticles
The design, engineering and application of inorganic nanoparticles
Research Fields
Nanotechnology, synthetic inorganic chemistry, catalysis
Research Highlights
- Hydrophilic, bimetallic and magnetic nanoparticles
- Silica nano-rattles and raspberry-like Au decorated nanoparticles
- Fluorous nanoparticles for biphasic catalysis
Research Summary
In the RME-Nano research group, we focus on the design and synthesis of metal nanoparticles. An important focus of our research, is to study the formation and stability of metal nanoparticles in order to facilitate nanoparticle engineering for specific applications. Owing to its versatility, nanoparticle-based technologies lend themselves to a host of different applications. To date we have explored nanoparticle applications in catalysis, wastewater treatment via dyes degradation, anti-cancer treatment and most recently, the treatment of exaggerated blood clotting.
